Tata Steel 2025 R11: Praggnanandhaa scores a crucial win against Caruana, reduces the gap with Gukesh

D Gukesh drew with the defending champion, Wei Yi (CHN) to maintain his sole lead 8/11 at 87th Tata Steel Chess Masters 2025. R Praggnanandhaa played a fantastic game to beat the World no.2, Fabiano Caruana (USA). Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB) drew with Vincent Keymer (GER) to maintain his chase. Both Praggnanandhaa and Abdusattorov are at 7.5/11 each. Leon Luke Mendonca scored his first win of the event against Vladimir Fedoseev (SLO). Pentala Harikrishna defeated Alexey Sarana (SRB). IM Divya Deshmukh also scored her first win of the tournament, against IM Irina Bulmaga (ROU). Round 12 starts today at 2 p.m. local time, 6:30 p.m. IST for both Masters and Challengers section. 12 Champions crowned at the 13th National Schools Chess Championship 2025

The 13th National Schools Chess Championship 2025 took place from 17th-21st January at the Sri Prakash Synergy School in Peddapuram, Andhra Pradesh. 12 Champions were crowned across various age categories in this 9-round chess tournament with a swiss format! 1200+ players took part in this mega event. Shreyanshi Jain from Rajasthan was the only player across all the categories to score a perfect 9/9! She won the National Schools Under-7 Girls title, and won a ChessBase video course of Gukesh signed by the World Champion Gukesh himself. Senthil Maran K wins Marienbad Open IM Round-Robin 2025

IM Senthil Maran K and IM Michal Konopoka (CZE) scored an unbeaten 6/9 each at Marienbad Open 2025 B2 IM Round Robin at 23rd International Chess Festival part of Czech Tour 2025 series. Senthil won the tournament due to better tie-break scores. Michal was placed second. FM Loek Van der Hagen (NED) scored 5.5/9 to finish third. The top three prizes were CZK 3000, 2000 and 1000 each. GM Anton Korobov (UKR) won the A GM Round Robin tournament. He scored an unbeaten 6.5/9. IM Harshavardhan G B scored 6/9 to secure second place. IM Jonasz Baum (POL) scored 5.5/9 to finish third. Kashish Manoj Jain prevails at Prague Open 2025, Harshavardhan third

FM Kashish Manoj Jain scored 8/9 to win Prague Open A 2025 at 23rd International Chess Festival part of Czech Tour 2025 series. Kashish finished a full point ahead of the competition. Six players - IM Damian Lewtak (POL), IM Harshavardhan G B, IM Tomas Kulhanek (CZE), IM Senthil Maran K, FM Kim Yew Chan (MAS) and IM Matyas Marek (CZE) scored 7/9 each. They secured second to seventh place respectively according to tie-breaks. The top three prizes in A Open were CZK 20000 + trophy, 15000 and 10000 each respectively. 12-year-old CM Antoni Radzimski (POL) scored a perfect 7/7 to win C Rapid event. Iniyan dominates 9th Johor Open 2025, Raahul second

GM Iniyan Pa scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 9th Johor Open 2025. He finished a whopping 1.5 points ahead of the rest and won the tournament with a round to spare. IM V S Raahul and IM Bo Li (CHN) scored 7/9 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. The top three prizes were RM 10000 (≈₹196810), 6000 (≈₹118086) and 4000 (≈₹78724). The six-day nine round Rating Open tournament was organized by Johor Chess Association at Fairview International School in Johor Bahru, Malaysia from 18th to 23rd January 2025. Iniyan has won two consecutive Classical rating tournament he played in 2025 - first 15th Chennai GM Open 2025, now this.
